Spam, spam, spam, spam

A new feature to help prevent spam comments, Word Verification. Thank you, Blogger.

I didn't really want to turn off the Anonymous comments, and now I shouldn't have to. Hopefully the number of fake comments will be kept to a minimum now.

I just added this to my blog this morning. I kept getting spam comments that were longer than most of my posts, so I figured it was time to do something. Damn those spammers!

Word verification is a good idea - something had to be done.

But it's just one more step for commenters to take, and people are lazy. I think I'll suffer the spam, for now.

It would be nice to be able to add goodly people to a 'trusted peeps' list, and they could avoid the word verification.

Although... Spammers are crafty. It won't be long until they create software than can read and interpret the warped lettering automatically.

Which would solve a difficult problem for scientists working on object recognition for AI robots.

Since the spammers have money to make in creating this software, they'll probably succeed before the scientists do.

It's like video card development - if not for video games, would we have 256MB cards? Office accounting and word processing software doesn't require real-time dynamic lighting and shadows.

I hate the word verification thingies though. I'll just delete the spam. I do want a clock like yours and LG's though CK.

Thanks for the spam tip CK. I've added this to mine too. Did you notice that I managed to do it myself without emailing you ten times for help? Hooray - drinks are on me!
